We hope that you all had a wonderful holiday break. It is hard to imagine that the second semester has started and it is 2012! Things are already picking up here at Ensworth and we will have a lot of fun information to share on the blog, so make sure you keep checking back. To start off the new year, we wanted to share a recent activity that the second grade did in Chinese…making Chinese Opera Masks.
The second grade has learned and practiced their colors in Chinese, and to end their unit, they learned which colors painted on Beijing Opera actors’ faces symbolize good and bad characters in Chinese Opera. Check out the pictures below to see some of the masks that the students came up with.
The students in the picture above are giving a thumbs up because the colors on their mask are “good” colors. In addition to learning about the colors, the students also learned about hands and voices.
