Today, both campuses held a special assembly honoring Dr. Martin Luther, Jr. The high school assembly included a performance by musicians from Ensworth families and guest speakers from the Civil Rights Movement. Several students and faculty also spoke or performed.
At Red Gables, eighth graders Hagan Morgan and Caroline Seitz hosted the assembly which included a video from P1 students on kindness and second graders reading excerpts from Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. In addition, eighth grader, Trenity Scott read Carole Boston Weatherford and Jerome Lagarrigue’s Freedom on the Menu, after which seventh grader, John Smalley, interviewed the Greensboro Four, all of whom are featured in the book. Representing the Greensboro Four were sixth graders Dominic Wynn, Chaz Lanier, Elijah Jenkins, and William Wright, and representing the president of Greensboro A and T is seventh grader, Josh Howard.
