Did you know that Ensworth has a student garden on both the lower school and high school campus? Every year each grade helps plant, maintain and harvest the beds while producing some beautiful vegetables for the whole community to enjoy. This year the second grade is taking it a step further by getting educated on how to prepare and enjoy different vegetables. Each week a different student, know as the “veggiecator”, brings in a vegetable of choice and shares a delicious recipe for the class to help make and enjoy.
As an added bonus, the second graders had a special field trip to the Governor’s Residence yesterday to learn all about healthy living from First Lady of Tennessee Crissy Haslam. Students had the opportunity to tour the residence garden and make a healthy recipe with the Executive Residence Chef.
