The Middle School Drama Club club added a new twist to the spring production this year. Instead of doing one full show, they did scenes from two different shows. The combination of the two shows gave the audience an opportunity to catch a snippet of the ever so popular Our Town followed by a very comical scene from You Can’t Take It With You!
First off was Our Town. Our Town is a three act play by American playwright Thorton Wilder. It is a character story about an average town’s citizens in the early twentieth century as depicted through their everyday lives.
Next up was You Can’t Take It With You…
You Can’t Take it With You is a Pulitzer Prize winning comedy about the loveable and sometimes odd Sycamore family and their one normal family member Alice Sycamore. When Alice falls for Tony, son of the rich and sometimes snobbish Kirby family there is an inevitable clash of classes and lifestyles. We come to realize at the end of the play if the Sycamore family is a little crazy the rest of the world must be insane.
