One of my favorite Ensworth activities took place today in the 2nd grade, the authors reception. Every year, the second grade students write, illustrate and publish their own books. The students are given the freedom to write a story about anything they want. Their stories range from summer trips to favorite memories and experiences. Once the books are completed, each class hosts a reception and author signing party where the parents and teachers come to meet with the students, hear about their books, and make comments. After a long year of working on handwriting and reading, this project really allows the students to be creative and put into practice all they have learned. What a great way to end the school year!
