I have loved both experiences. Although I love teaching more advanced levels of French, I feel like I learned so much about teaching at the lower school. There is something about teaching Fourth and Fifth Grade language that really teaches you as a teacher to break things down and keep it interesting. I have also been fortunate to see so many amazing kids grow up by teaching them at different levels.
Your official title at the high school is Foreign Language Department Chair. Tell us a little about some of the classes you teach and languages you speak?
I teach French 1, 2, 3, 4 and AP French Language. In college I took French and also a little Italian. I studied in both France and Italy in college as well. My Italian is really rusty though.
If you could be a fly on the wall in any Ensworth classroom which one would it be and why?
That is a tough question! There are so many amazing teachers at Red Gables. I would love to see Michelle Chang and John Picklesimer in action. I think that they are both really great at what they do and work well as a team.
What’s the last book you read?
A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee by Chris Van Dusen. Henry, my 4 year old, can’t get enough of this book. It is his favorite bedtime story.
What is your favorite activity or day at Ensworth that you look forward to every year?
I still really love the first day of school. It is fun seeing the kids after summer. I always get a little nervous and have trouble sleeping the night before. It is exciting still.
What faculty member at the Red Gables campus would you like to see profiled next?
