Ensworth third graders were treated to a unique opportunity today to tour an actual sweets factory to coincide with their study of Roald Dahl’s classic book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Students were granted an all access tour of the Christie Cookie Company and were able to witness up close the complete cookie production process, learn from Christie’s marketing staff, and were even given the opportunity to roll out some hand-made cookies of their own. This opportunity was possible due to current Ensworth parents, Ensworth alumni, and the rest of the gracious and hospitable Christie Cookie staff.
As a follow-up to their cookie class, a representative from GooGoo Clusters candy visited them in the classroom today to talk all about the GooGoo cluster, how it is made, distributed, and how it has changed since the first candies hit the stores 100 years ago!
The third grade students will continue their studies of scrumptious delights by creating a candy concept of their own, designing the packaging that goes with it, and creating a commercial to promote it.
