Visiting Artist at Red Gables (Tiger Topic)

Ensworth art studios welcome Aaron Grayum this week as he shares his artistic vision with the Red Gables campus. Students started by observing Grayum’s many pieces of work in the Red Gables art gallery. He explained how he started out as an artist by finding old drawing from when he was about third or fourth grade and twenty years later trying to recreate those same drawings.  After getting a feel for his style of art, students were then ready to create their own “Grayum.” Each student chose one word to use as their inspiration for their piece and then created a drawing that personified what that word meant to them. From Disco and Angry Birds to Peace and Love students had a variety of great ideas. Ms. Coates art classes learned some new techniques and had some great pieces to show for it.

Grayum’s work will be featured at the Ensworth Auction on April 13, and you can see more of his work at www.aarongrayum.com.
