Every year the P1 students collect pennies for Habitat for Humanity as part of their service learning project. For 3 weeks, each P1 class takes turns making announcements in lunch and collecting pennies in the morning. As they gather up hundreds of pennies, they count, sort and roll them in preparation for their big walk to the local bank to make their deposit. The money raised from their penny drive goes to help landscape some of the local Habitat homes that are being built. One week day this spring, the P1 students will take a trip out to the Habitat site for some hands on planting and raking efforts, which in turn gives them a great understanding of where the money they have raised is going! The penny drive is ALMOST over! Please bring in your pennies.
