The Ensworth fourth grade students embraced the winter weather and icy conditions with their recent trip to Harris Hillman. Since 1984, the fourth grade class has spent an afternoon on the ice with Harris Hillman students in their wheelchairs and sleds. A tradition that also includes two on-site visits before the big day.
This tradition for the fourth grade is part of Ensworth’s ongoing commitment to service learning. Through this program Pre-1st through 12th grade have a specific project that they carry out during the year. The school partners with many organizations, Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Second Harvest Food Bank and Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital just to name a few. The goal of the service learning curriculum is to encourage students to invest their time and build a commitment to their community while serving others.
